Carrying The Load

You wanted to be a mama

but you never thought

it would be so much drama.

All your girlfriends had at least one

some had little girls some had a son

and you wondered what was the rage

so at such a tender young age

a baby you went ahead and made.

Now it’s not that you don’t want him

but oh how you would love to have back

just a few of them tender young years

of not being the only one changing diapers

and making sure they have clothes to wear.

Not being the only one wiping runny noses

or drying crying baby tears

and cleaning aching ears

oh how you would love to have someone

ease all your worries and fears.

No it’s not that you don’t love him

about him you don’t care

but all the responsibility is yours alone

with no one else there to share.

Total responsibility of raising a child

is a lot for a young mother to bear

oh how sometimes things in life

seem to be so unfair.
