You’re a young lady now

and you really don’t know

about some of the things you see

so you’re thinking

this is how life has to be.

You see no one ever took the time

to sit you down

and tell you that this wasn’t so

no one ever took the time

to explain to you and show

just let you think

that this is how your life has to go.

Mama’s are always to busy

some never have time to show

so all the young girl’s ever know

is what they hear and see

and all their young lives they think

this is how it has to be.

Now mama take the time please

and put these young minds at ease

sit them down and tell them

explain and let them know

that it is not so

that what they hear and see

is not the only way

that their lives have got to be.
